Alliance
 Alliance is a Party of Local Government. Councillors form the backbone of Alliance.
In the District Councils on which we have seats, Alliance provides a powerful voice for reason and moderation, and for anti-sectarian and progressive politics. With our cross-community identity, Alliance is the only party that can genuinely claim to represent the entire community.
Alliance has pioneered the concepts of power sharing, rotation and proportionality on Councils. In Belfast in particular, the development of constructive politics on behalf of all the citizens of the city has coincided with Alliance taking the balance of power on the Council. Alliance has played a major role in helping to improve the image of Northern Ireland local government, and downplaying constitutional and sectarian battles within Council chambers.
