Plato Cork
Plato Cork is managed by the Plato Cork Management Board which is representative of IBEC, Cork Chamber of Commerce, Cork City, South Cork and West Cork Enterprise Boards
Plato is a unique business to business support structure for small to medium-sized companies. Seven Plato small business networks are now established in Ireland involving nearly 1000 SMEs and 93 of Ireland’s largest companies. Once a Plato structure has been established in a region, it provides support to the managers of participant companies through network linkages and helps owner managers to develop their businesses.
An owner/manager can join the network for an initial two-year cycle and can then remain in the network, using it as a resource to meet specific needs they may have.
Parent Companies
A unique aspect of Plato is the partnership established at local level between large and small companies. Each of the participating large companies, known as parent companies, releases two executives on a part-time basis as its primary representatives and also allows Plato participants access to their full range of management expertise.
Participant Companies
Plato participant companies can be involved in any area of commercial activity and typically employ between three and 50 people. Generally, participant companies have completed the start-up phase of development and are facing the challenges and issues associated with company growth and expansion. At this stage business growth requires new systems and modes of operation which, if not addressed, can lead to business failure.
